Cavaliers Sign Former Coach, Mike Brown To Five Year $20 Million Dollar Deal

23 Apr

I assume Mike Brown was ignoble for re-hire?

The Cleveland Cavaliers released Brown after five seasons. The news came in 2010 before Lebron’s heartbreaking departure from Cleveland .

The Cavs are still trying to bait James back if he opts-out of his contract with the Miami Heat in the summer of 2014. The “player/coach” relationship between the two wasn’t always the best as documented.

Many believe that Brown’s return would be a bit enticing to James. Kyrie Irving and Lebron James on the same court, scary sight. A more powerful, experienced Lebron.

Mike Brown is a defense minded coach and Cleveland is finishing last in that category. It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out in the next year. Can Lebron be forgiven by Cleveland?

Dumbest 4/20 Pictures Posted To Social Media Sites

22 Apr

Ignorance is bliss.

This passing weed-smoker holiday, 4/20 was so annoying. I don’t smoke nor am I judging those who do. I just don’t agree with the posting of illegal substances to social media sites. I remember a time where you knew someone smoked but didn’t have to see pictures of it everywhere.

Here are the few annoying pictures I caught before disconnecting from social media for the day:

This picture was taken by one of my followers, @JewChainz who went on to explain how this poor young soul left his hospital bed to engage in 4/20 festivities.

Smh. Need a say more?

This young fellow brought his Hookah machine from the crib to indulged in the festivities during his lunch break.

This rumor couldn’t be any further from the truth. However the holier than folk didn’t miss a beat to upload it ALL day.

Eliminate The “Friend Zone” Be An Adult For Once

22 Apr

“The Friend Zone” labeled as a platonic friendship between two people. A friendship or relationship whereas one person is interested and the other isn’t. Once this line has been set, often hard to pursue something more serious.

This concept is stupid.

Eliminate the friend zone and tell that person what it is. When I think of “friend zone” I think of a really nice guy or girl who is willing to go the extra mile but is being strung along with “hope” of something more. It’s false hope and reality for the situation you’ll have or lack of.

So here’s how you eliminate the whole theory.

Too many times people avoid telling the whole truth because of how it’ll make them look (yet nobody has two fucks to give right?) or they just don’t want to deal with everything that comes with the truth. Grow up! Tell he or she your not interested or whatever the case may be.

#2. Don’t Lead Them On
Don’t take them up on movie and dinner dates just because its a free ride. If you KNOW you don’t really have an interest, decline!

Easy.

Free Bricks! Gucci and Young Scooter Cellmates?

22 Apr

MTVRapFix is reporting that “Columbia” rapper and Gucci Mane are sharing more than a collaboration currently. The two rappers are housed at Dekalb County Jail where they’re cell mates.

Gucci Mane was charged and arrested for assaulting a solider with a champagne bottle. He was released and picked up again on unrelated probation violation.

As for Mr. “I Can Make My Own Bricks” born Kenneth Edward Bailey, he was knocked on a suspended license violation. (Fairly odd for a rapper that raps about things fair worst than driving on a suspended).

I expect a few more collaborations from the two in the future. Respectively of course.

In Tragedy, Virginia State University.

22 Apr

I attended Virginia State University from 2008-2010, pursuing a degree in Mass Communications. While pursuing my degree, I often observed things that happened that raised a few eyebrows (things I won’t mention here for the sake of discretion).

What I will say though, is that Virginia State University is the only school where the organizations present on the yard, actually run the yard. I was 20 during my first semester at VSU (took a few years off to figure out what i wanted to do with life) so I of course was a bit older than the usual freshman. I saw a few orgs that I thought I’d enjoy joining not knowing the back ground that actually goes into joining.

You see, at Virginia State University, you don’t just put in a application, interview and get selected for an organization. You actually go through some type of “process”. How do I know? Let’s just say I’ve been there and done that. I’ve also been to someone’s house who had “pledges” (for organizations) in the basement and witnessed these same “pledges” cleaning this man’s home LITERALLY top to bottom.

Now, presently their are two freshmen who are missing in the Appomattox River. Around 1:30am on Friday night, witnesses say the two out of a group of five went missing in the river. What the news didn’t report is that they were only out there due to a “hazing” act. Sources around the school are saying that these two young men were trying to be apart of an off-campus organization called ‘Men of Honor”.

The controversy hit social media and the response was as expected. You can’t have an opinion on Twitter without backlash hence why I’m writing this post.

Yes, I pray these two young men are found and brought home in healthy conditions. No, I don’t agree with them risking their lives to prove their loyalty and worth to a meaningless organization however let’s call a spade a spade.

Greek and non-greek organizations HAZE at Virginia State University. You can keep that “My sorority/fraternity is a non-hazing organization” and let’s talk facts.

Former Virginia State University student, Christopher Rudder has a open law suit against Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and its local chapter for $1.7 million. Three years ago, Mr. Rudder suffered endured beatings, demeaning verbal insults and severe emotional stress during a hazing process between 2008-2009. Injuries resulting in extensive medical treatment.

OR….

Virginia State University SGA President (yes, the student government PRESIDENT) Brandon Randleman is facing hazing charges after a student sought treatment for severe bruising.

The charges for the Rudder case were dropped in exchange for the defendants to put together a anti-hazing program on campus.

When is enough, enough? These organizations, Greek or non-Greek weren’t built on these type of practices. It’s become too much of a distraction than a positive matter. You come to college for a degree, to network and build connections and yes joining organizations are a plus. When is enough, enough? When does trying to prove your worth to the irrelevant something we no longer strive to do? When do we focus on the academic aspect and not so much on the fashion show/popularity contest?

What it boils down too, is that people really want to be apart of something so bad that they lose themselves on that journey. I don’t put full responsibility on the organization (greek or non-greek) for these instances that occur because people can only do what YOU allow them to do.

Once you leave Virginia State University, that Virginia State based organization that you love dearly doesn’t count for much in the real world. You can defend that until your face turns green. It’s a shame that two men had to come up missing in the middle of the night for people to want to ban together and pray. It’s also a shame that our generation is so detached that by the weekend (which happens to be VSU Beach Weekend) you’ll will forget the praying and be back to “#TurnDownForWhat”.

Non-Greek organizations aren’t held to any serious standards when it comes to a “process” or hazing, whatever you want to name it. It’s simply someone thinking of something people can do to prove they’re down with the cause. How scary is that knowing how sick people are?

It’s happening. It’s happened. It will continue to happen if things aren’t nipped now.

We have to do better as a community.

Go Figure | 24 IRS Employee’s Knocked For Stealing Government Benefits

Lawmakers Trying To Avert Fiscal Cliff To Prevent Short-Term Shock To The Economy

Being that it’s folk in the hood that do things like this on a daily, it only came as a shocker that employee’s that work for the most hated agency in the US got knocked for it.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Memphis said that the employees were indicted on charges that they received more than $250,00 in benefits including unemployment insurance payments, food stamps, welfare, and housing vouchers.

I’d like to know how long they got away with this before the IRS finally brought the house down on them? Prosecutors say that 13 of the employees face federal charges of lying about being unemployed while applying for or re-certifying their government benefits. Eleven others face state charges of theft of property over $1,000.

The news conference to announce the indictments was canceled due to “unforeseen events” but I truly think that the agency is a bit embarrassed being that this was happening under their noses.
